Where Science Supports Animal Lives
Our products are created only for birds and should not be fed to other pets.
Organically grown Hopi blue corn contains approximately 20% more protein than the common yellow corn and is also rich in anti-inflammatory anthocyanins, one of the most powerful antioxidants, which also give it its unique color. Blue corn is also lower in starch (sugars) compared to common corn varieties.
Blue heirloom corn was developed hundreds of years ago in Mexico by the indigenous people of the Chalcatongo de Hidalgo community in the Oaxaca region. It then was harvested in other areas like Arizona and New Mexico.
To sprout, rinse and soak 8-12 hours in cool clean water. Drain, rinse, and sprout for another 24-48 hours, rinsing a few times per day. Once you see root tails emerge, give them a final rinse and offer them to your bird, keeping unused portions in a sealed container in your refrigerator for up to 5-7 days.
Biodiversity Bird Blends is dedicated to improving the lives of the animals we keep through whole food nutrition. We rely on the decades of science that has shown us the value of biological compounds in whole food items and the dangers of processed foods. We also rely on experts in avian nutrition who run our formulations and create our innovative products to ensure their safety and benefits for all animals. As both Dr. Crean and Dr. Becker have long said, we want our animals to THRIVE, not just survive.
Note: Our products are only created for birds and should not be fed to other pets.
"I approve and encourage the use of herbal and/or decaffeinated teas for birds. When offered correctly and appropriately, tea can enhance a bird's life by enriching her life experience and introducing additional nutrition. I often recommend various teas to clients. Their use supports many treatment protocols and aid in healing and mental health.”
"Without question, tea has stood the test of time and has had profound impacts on the health of many animals, including humans! It is no secret that there is little research on avian nutrition but, like most other research, the use of studies on other animals and humans give us an idea as to how the compounds in blended teas work. A list of resources, many of which from peer-reviewed scientific journals, continue to showcase the benefits of teas. This list barely scrapes the surface of what we know but it is certainly a good place to start to show how the many different types of teas are beneficial. We have been using animal teas for many, many years with wonderful results and we hope you decide to try them with your own birds."
Jason had sent me two packages of the flower andherb blends to try for our dwarf lionhead rabbit. I've been mixing about atablespoon every other day with her hay pellets, and she really loves it! Shegravitates towards the flower forage over the green forage, but she reallyloves them both. Thank you so much for bringing this healthy diversity to ourrabbit's diet!
I've been using the "taming the flame" tea for my IRN with terrible arthritis, and after 2 weeks she's so much better. I started off with the weakest solution and now she's on the strongest solution. She's leaping from her perch to her "bird on a rock" again, moving around more. And putting herself to bed on her upper perches. She had been waiting for me to put her up there every night at bedtime. She's on no pain meds, And I stopped the LED light while I tried the tea. THANK YOU!!!!
